The subtle but caniving Kenyan Winter is here with us and most of you are getting the cold as you have not been investing in your immune system but that does not mean you have to stay 1,2 even 3 weeks in bed battling with this virus that so many of us would like to avoid by any means necessary.
The worst part is that most of you will hurriedly dash to someone with a white lab coat for an instant fix but end up spending loads of your hard earned cash on drugs that basically cover the symptoms but do not address the root underlying cause. First of all, I hardly get the cold/ clu because I indulge in raw organic fruits and vegatables almost everyday; I always have food with salad, or an avocado. Organically grown (grown without pesticides, herbicides and other -cides) hierloom fruits and vegetables contain the highest nutrients per serving, this is very obvios but several clinical studies have backed this claim 100%. Vitamins are the greatest source of disease fighting mechanism, so please take your vitamins, and NOT SUPPLEMENTS, they cause cancer…but that is a blog post for another day
As much as there are several ways to combat your common cold, naturally and cheaply, my personal favourite is the Ginger and Garlic Concotion. My mother, who is also a self taught nutritionist, gave me this stuff some years ago and I will never forget how fast and efficient it worked.
- 1 Ginger root
- 1 Garlic bulb
- 1 Tablespoon Organic Honey
- 1 Lemon
- Grate the ginger and Garlic into some water simmer for 30 minutes on low heat to preserve the nutrients.
- Remove from fire and grate in some lemon zest and leave to rest for 4minutes.
- Sieve, Add the honey and lemon juice and drink
