The coldest part of the year is with us again and boy is it freezing. Your body will adapt to this situation by generating more heat especially from eating since heat is a byproduct of digestion, so expect to crave for more food more frequently. This means that many people will most likely gain some weight because they will resolve into eating highly refined/processed foods that are nutrient void and contain gigantic amounts of empty calories that will be easily stored as belly fat.
We don’t want that do we? The wise thing to do in this time is include more whole foods in this ‘winter’ period such that even if you over eat, the digestion will still occur slowly and no belly fat formation. That is why I am drinking sorghum porridge almost everyday. Sorghum is not technically a grain but a pseudocereal which most of the times contain much more nutrients like the common porridge grains like oats, cornmeal etc. Sorghum is excepitonally awesome for weight loss since it curbs appetite, controlling your food cravings all day, here is a very simple recipe
1. Boil 1.5 cups of water
2. take 4 tablespoons of the boiling water and make the paste with it.
3. Add 4 tablespoons of sorghum flour and 2 tablespoons of honey and mix well.
4. Add the paste to the boiling liquid and then stir continuously for 2 minutes.
5. Simmer uncovered for another 2 minutes and then serve with these healthy oatmeal cookies for a very nutritious breakfast.
