When cooked right, brown rice tastes better than white. It takes longer to cook because it is a whole grain and white rice is just starch. I looooove eating brown rice, it is my staple whole grain because it is delicious and super healthy. It is light too so it is a great food for weight loss. The best brand is ‘CIL brown rice’, too good.
- To cook the perfect brown rice you need to soak it for 1 hour in twice the amount of water, then you add sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, boil on medium heat for about 30 minutes, or until the water has evaporated completely.
- Add a little extra virgin coconut/olive oil or unsalted butter, cover and then cook on very low heat for another 20 minutes.
- Do not uncover yet, leave it for about 15 more minutes to let it finish cooking with the residual heat. The difference is night and day.
